Mad for Plaid
Plaid has weaved its way in and out of my life over the years. In middle school, when the grunge scene was big, I remember wearing flannel button down plaid shirts in pretty much every color combo you could imagine. This was exactly two decades ago (YIKES!). Plaid and I took a break for a few years until Britney Spears came onto the scene with her hit Oh Baby Baby. Cue in the school girl plaid skirts, knee socks and Mary Janes. Yes, I was one of THOSE girls. This was my uniform, even though I went to a public school, for most days of the school week. Once again, plaid and I took another break. I fine tuned my taste a bit and in high school, I opted for subtle plaid prints. My favorite plaid item then was a pair of pants from the Gap. The plaid was a combination of dark green, navy and red. I remember pairing them with a turtle neck. I was so classy. I don't remember wearing much plaid in college. The prep scene wasn't big where I went to school. So once again, I was on a plaid break.
And guess what's trending this Fall? PLAID! It is taking the fashion scene by storm. You can find plaid in almost any form, ranging from scarves to pants to flats, just to name a very small fraction of what's available out there. This is a must have print for your wardrobe. Plaid is also taking on many different styles, from the classic tartan to bold combinations of colors. On this work day, I decided it was time to break out the plaid skirt. I love the classic plaid print mixed with the bold colors. Even though this skirt was purchased last year, it hits the mark for this season's Fall trends. What's currently your favorite plaid piece for the Fall?
