Out On A Lim
I am a fan of animal print. It's an easy way to add a bit of 'wild' to any outfit, whether at work or play. It's a classic print that makes a statement. So when I laid eyes on this pullover in the Philip Lim for Target look-book, I immediately put it on my must-have list. The color combo used to create the large and bold print gives the traditional animal print a fun and updated vibe. The mix between knit and the chiffon-like fabric infuses an element of sophistication to the pullover while the the contrasting knit trim at the neck, waist and cuffs polishes off the piece.
On a recent date night, I agreed to go out on a limb and venture out to Brookline to meet my fiance for dinner. It was a cool Fall evening, but not so cool where a jacket was needed. So it was the perfect opportunity to debut my newest pullover. Going for a more casual look, I decided to go with black everything, from my skinny jeans to my Chanel tote. Knowing that some amount of walking would be involved to get myself over to Brookline, I threw on my trusty Bloch flats, the most comfortable brand of flats ever made (and I swear by it). And an outfit wouldn't be complete without a little bling, right? In case you were wondering, we dined at Orinoco and made a pit stop at 16 Handles for dessert.
Outfit Details:
Animal Print Pullover: Phillip Lim for Target, $34.99. Call me crazy, if you will, but I was able to nab this by ordering online at 4AM on launch day! Unfortunately, this item is sold out in-stores and online. But here are a few alternatives: (1) Forever21 Leopard Print Sweater, $29.80 and (2) Gap Animal Zip Jacket, $88 (in powerful blue and sassy pink).
Black Skinny Jeans: Club Monaco, $49.50. I purchased these on sale last winter. For something similar, I recommend Gap's 1969 legging jeans, $69.95. I own them in other colors and they are super comfy. Gap is usually great about providing discount codes so keep an eye on my deals section for one.
Flats: Bloch from Lord and Taylor, $50. I purchased these during an L&T Friends & Family event. I always wait for them to go on sale and use a coupon to get the best price possible. Use code SHOP thru 10/7 and save 20%. They are the MOST comfortable flats ever. I own five pairs, and counting.
J. Crew Inspired Translucent Flower Necklace: Jane (from midnightgirls.com), $14.50. I love Jane, it's the Groupon of Etsy. Check in for daily for great deals!
Ring: Mini Bow Ring: Madewell, $15.
Shopper: Chanel (petite shopping), Gift. Ok, definitely not on a budget but it was a gift. How could I say no? Here is a range of bags (in style and price): (1) Paradox Quilted Leather Tote at Lord & Taylor, $134.98. Use code SHOP thru 10/7 and save 20% ($107.98); (2) Forever21 Quilted Faux Leather Tote, $32.80; and (3) Bebe Darcy Quilted Satchel from TJ Maxx, $59.99.
