Work Red-y.
On mornings when I run short on time getting ready, which would be most weekdays, I always reach into my closet for a dress. Dresses are an easy way to put a look together with minimal effort. It's a ready to go outfit without any guesswork. All that is needed are a few accessories and you are good to go.
One of my favorite pieces is the shirtdress, which I consider a must-have as part of any work wardrobe. I would put it up there with the work LBD. The 'shirt' provides the structure and clean lines of a button-down while the 'dress' adds the right dose of flair and femininity to the whole look. Of course I picked one in my favorite silhouette: fit and flair with box pleats. Stick with what works, right? Known as the color of power and strength, it is definitely a good choice for the office. Remember, dress like a lady, feel like a boss!
Outfit Details:
Shirtdress: The Limited (from the archives), $30ish. The Limited carries a similar Belted Shirtdress (deep red) at $54.94.
Elasticized Belt w/ Gold Birds Detail: H&M, $7. This was purchased a few seasons ago but here are two similar options available at H&M: (1) Elastic Belt with gold metal buckle, $5.95 and (2) Elasticized Belt with gold embossed details, $9.95
Black Pumps: Nine West (Rocha) from Macy's, $79. Use code LUCKY and save an additional 15% ($67).
Sunglasses: Warby Parker (Sinclair in Midnight Blue), Gift. Most glasses and sunglasses are $95. The Sinclair is only available in optical but you could inquire about getting them as sunglasses.
Cross Necklace: gorjana - griffin from Rue La La, $29.90. gorjana-griffin does make frequent appearances on Rue La La, so keep an eye out for that boutique. For something a bit more unique, take a look at the sideways cross pendant from Nordstrom, $16.
Leather Wrap Bracelet: J.Crew, $10 (on final sale). For something similar, I recommend the black dots stud wrap from Bauble Bar for $26.
Crossbody: Tory Burch, $420. I purchased this during an F&F event, so was able to save 20%. A bit of a splurge but has lasted me a few years already! Investing in a few classic pieces is worth it.
