Fine Feathers
From the moment I laid eyes on this print, I couldn't bare to store this hi-lo dress away until next summer or save it for a future warm weather vacation. I decided I had to wear it now and started to think of ways to style this dress to take it from Summer right into Fall. Basics first. As this is a sheer dress, my first layer was a black tank dress; nobody needs to see my unmentionables! Now that we have that covered, let's move on. The colors of the peacock feather print are full of jewel tones, which is right on trend for the Fall. Now that the temps are starting to drop, it was the perfect opportunity to break out my black denim jacket. I added a black belt to create some shape; a little cinch at the waist. Inspired by another Fall trend, I zipped on my moto booties which played well against the softness of the dress. With just these few pieces, I was able to give this dress the Fall treatment. I feel like I just unlocked the versatility potential of this dress. I'm thinking knit tights and a leather jacket for the colder weather could work as well. Tell me, how would you style this dress?
Outfit Details:
High Low Tank Dress: Elif for Jordan Taylor (Demeter long high low tank dress), $76. Jordan Taylor was so generous in sending me this lovely dress. Going on vacation to a warm weather destination? Then visit their website and check out their resort and beach wear collections. Or look for other versatile pieces that can be styled for any season. All pieces are under $100 which is in line with my philosophy of not having to spend a ton of money. Another great fact; all pieces are made in the US!
Black Denim Jacket: Marshall's (Joe's Jeans), $39. Yup, found this on the clearance rack. For something similar, take a look at the lightly faded denim jacket from Forever21 $29.80.
Elastic Belt: I have no idea where this belt came from. Found it in my bin-o-belts. I did find a very similar belt at H&M, $5.95.
Moto Booties: Plenty by Tracey Reese from Bloomingdale's Outlet, $45. This was completely marked down from about $150 and, of course, I had coupons. At about the same price point and a very similar look, I found these Sam & Libby boots from Target (albeit black) for $44.99.
Yellow Miniaudiere: BCBGeneration from Rue La La, $27.90 (retail: $88). Here are some similar options: (1) Forever21 Metallic-Trimmed Clear Clutch, $21.80 and (2) Nordstrom Expressions NYC Clear Box Clutch, $48.
Sunglasses: Warby Parker (Sinclair in Midnight Blue), Gift. Most glasses and sunglasses are $95. The Sinclair is only available in optical but you could inquire about getting them as sunglasses.
Rings: (1) Cable Ring by David Yurman, $Gift. To achieve a similar look, I recommend that you take a look at this sterling silver braid ring by TawnieandBrina, $22; (2) Petite Albion Ring with Prasiolite by David Yurman, $Gift. Not exact but at a more palatable price ($70), this Swarovski tempo silver-tone crystal ring might do the trick. Be on the lookout, certain coupons may apply!
