Elephant Trunks
When I got a glimpse of the Banana Republic Milly Collection look book, I immediately became obsessed with the elephant print shorts. So I marked my calendar for the Boston launch event to make sure that I would get my hands on a pair. I arrived about an hour after the launch party started, did a quick lap through the store and could not find a pair in my size. I hunted down the only sales person on the floor and enlisted his help. To my dismay, he said there were none left in my size. Apparently, these shorts were really popular and were selling like hotcakes. I proceeded to drown my sorrows in the complimentary pink lemonade and mini desserts.
About a half hour later, out of nowhere, the sales person comes flying at me with THE elephant shorts. I don't know where he found it and I did not even care to ask. I happily went to the cashier to pay for my shorts and of course I had a 35% coupon. On top of the savings, I scored a limited edition set of nail polish! Thanks BR! Finally debuted them last weekend at a father's day bbq. Kept it pretty casual with a white T and nude flats and sprinkled on some gold accessories.
Outfit Details:
T: Old Navy, $6. Old Navy is a great place to pick up your basic T's.
Elephant Shorts: Banana Republic Milly Collection, $35.75. Unfortunately, BR is currently out of stock online. You might have SOME luck in the stores. For fun print shorts, check out the selection at Gap (a few on sale!).
Gold Aztec Triad Collar: Bauble Bar, $42.
Bracelet: Gift. My fiance bought this for me early on in our relationship. We love playing Scrabble so for one of our first Valentine's day, he found a woman who makes jewelry from vintage charms. This charm bracelet has four Scrabble letters that spell Love with various hearth shaped charms. One of my favorite pieces of jewelry! He doesn't remember the website he got this from but I am sure you can find something similar on Etsy.
Belt: The Limited, $10. Pulled this out of the archives. As an alternative, try this pink belt from Piperlime, $21.99 or another pink one from Forever 21, $3.80.
Nude Flats: Bloch at Lord & Taylor, $52. I know I probably sound like a broken record, but these are the most comfortable brand of flats. I cannot get enough of them! Check them out at the stores and save and additional 20% now thru 6/25. For a somewhat similar style, check out these Lucky Brand flats from Macy's, $58 but save an additional 10% with code EXTRA ($52.20).
