Suits tend to conjur images of serious people working in offices dressed in dark colors with collared shirts. This does not have to be the case. With just a few tweaks, one can inject new life into a traditional suit. No more button-downs or subdued styles for this working gal!
Let's talk about my makeshift suit. And by makeshift, I mean that the jacket and pants were not purchased as a pair. To me, jacket+pants = suit, even if purchased separately. I'm in love with this jacket. The non-existent lapel and tuxedo finishing gives an everyday black blazer a dressed up and polished look. The unconventional material used to fabricate the blazer gives way to a perfect fit. Since the two major pieces that make up this outfit are black, I added a peplum top that infused the perfect dose of color and print. The flirty top worked well against this menswear inspired outfit. The final lady-like treatment? A pair of black pumps, of course!
