Bling in the New Year

Happy 2014! Hope you are all enjoying your first week back in the New Year. Returning to reality has been a little bit rough, but I am looking forward to many good things this year (like getting married)! But before I leave 2013 behind, I wanted to write a post on the very last outfit I wore before the ball dropped at midnight. New Year's Eve is a great excuse to wear all things sparkly, and I did just that. Seriously, you definitely wore some sparkle, I know you did. It was extremely cold that night, so unfortunately, I had to cover my fabulous sequin sweater with a blazer. But on the other hand, I love the tuxedo detailing on the blazer which took it from ordinary to extra-ordinary (sorry, had too)! To make up for the minimized sparkle exposure, I threw on some major neck BLING to compensate. My go-to studded pumps and brass knuckle clutch were the perfect accents to the outfit, giving it a bit of rock and roll edge. You'd think I was getting ready for a night on the town. Au contraire. This outfit took me out to dinner where we dined on buffalo wings followed by hours of playing Cards Against Humanity at the Marriott hotel bar in Farmington, CT. Shortly after the ball dropped, I jumped right into my pj's and passed out by 1AM. So maybe I was a bit overdressed for such a low key night but at least I had fun doing it. What did you do on NYE? Sequin Checkered Sweater: Alice & Olivia from Closet Connection, $25. This was an amazing find! Necklace: I cannot recall where this beauty came from so here are a few alternatives: (1) Bauble Bar: Vinyl Aurora Bib, $42; (2) Piperlime: Tinley Road Multi-Faceted Chain Necklace, $37.99; and (3) Forever21: Cutout Craze Floral Necklace, $6.80.

Scuba Twill Blazer: Loft, $59 (reg. $128). I thought I got a good deal, but right now, the blazer is on sale for $84.99 with an additional 50% off!

Black Skinny Jeans: Club Monaco, $49.50.  I purchased these on sale last winter. For something similar, I recommend Gap's 1969 legging jeans, $69.95. I own them in other colors and they are super comfy.

Patent Studded Pumps: Ivanka Trump (galyn) from Lord&Taylor, $54.99. I nabbed these during an F&F event coupled with some store credit to bring the price down from the original $150.  Lucky for you, they are currently on sale at $59.99. Brass Knuckle Clutch: A market in Hong Kong, $18. My fiance completely haggled the lady. Not quite the bargain I got but Aldo has a hard clutch with 'brass knuckles' for $45.
