Wh-White!

prada_lilly pulitzer_loft_kate spade2It might be somewhat passe, but I still follow the 'no whites until memorial day and no whites after labor day.' However, it is often difficult to find the right occasion to wear a white dress. I mean, no white dresses at bridal showers and absolutely not at a wedding. It's funny to think that such a simple color could come with so many don'ts. But low and behold, the opportunity finally came for me to debut my white Lilly Pulitzer dress that I forgot I even owned; it still had tags on it!

From afar, this dress seems really simple. However, upon closer inspection, the scalloped hem and embroidered flowers add the right amount of ladylike details that play well against the white backdrop. The sweetheart neckline gives the dress some shape and is actually very flattering for the less endowed, such as myself. It's all about creating an illusion, right? To play against the softness of this dress, I decided to pair it with my leather studded wedges (added height always a plus). The hot pink pouch, which has been my go to this summer, added the splash of color needed. This outfit carried me through the day, starting with a baby shower, then visiting family and rounding it out with dinner.

Outfit Details:

White Strapless Dress: Lilly Pulitzer from Rue La La, $39.90 (original price tag $228!). Lilly makes frequent appearances on Rue La La so keep an eye out. But in the mean time, here are some similar options: (1) DV Dolce Vita Dress - Singer Eyelet from Bloomingdale's, $121; (2) Chevron Pintuck Stripe Strapless Dress from Urban Outfitters, $39.99; (3) Cooperative Floral Mesh Strapless Skater Dress from Urban Outfitters, $29.99; and (4) Porcelain Mini Dress from Anthropologie, $129.95.

Necklaces: The charms come from different places. I think a few were earrings and when I lost the pair, I would just add it to my necklace. The cameo charm was from a flea market. These two necklaces are homes for lost charms. To jumpstart your own collection, check out Bauble Bar's vast selection of pendant necklaces.

Rings: The only new ring added to my collection is the Bone Midi Ring from Urban Outfitters, $6.

Pouch: Kate Spade Outlet, $28. Once again, major savings at the store. The purse was tagged $50, followed by a 40% store promotion and an additional 10% off coupon. Love the brightness and size of this pouch. To add a pop of bright color to your outfit, try the Nolita Textured Wallet Clutch $28 or the Bridgeport Studded Clutch in Pink, $19.98 both from Francesca's.

Gold Studded Wedges: Loft, $30-ish. I have had these wedges for a few summers and they are still going strong. Since this pair is no longer available, I think these are a close second: (1) Report Elayna from Piperlime, $49.99; (2) Mossimo Pembroke Wedge Sandal from Target, $29.99; and (3) Ash Diva from Piperlime, $129.99.
