Underwear
Don't worry, I didn't write a post about my undies. Read on to find why I titled my post as such. On this particular weekday, I stood in front of my closet and did the whole 'I have nothing to wear' and wished that I had this, that or the other thing. You know what I am talking about, right? I purchased this amazing batik top a few shopping trips ago, on sale of course, and have been meaning to get around to wearing it. Being that it is such an interesting print, I didn't want to pair it with an obvious choice of boring black pants or a black skirt for work. What I wanted to find in my closet was a bright or bold colored skirt. This is where my love for print is my downfall. Sometimes, all you need are some solid colored bottoms. Already made a mental note to myself to seek such items. As I scanned my closet over and over again, I spotted a magenta dress and wished I had a skirt in that color. Then it dawned on me. Why can't I just throw my top over this dress? And just like that, my work outfit happened. My dress became my underwear! A dress that doubles as a skirt, total score. I have a few other dresses that I plan on transforming into my underwear.
Outfit Details:
Batik Top: Madewell, $30 (retail sale $54.99). I happened to be shopping during an in-store promotion and was also with my friend who used her teacher discount (15%). Madewell tends to have additional sales on sale items, so keep an eye on my deals section for a promotion codes.
Dress: Banana Republic Outlet, $25ish (purchased a few years ago). This dress was worn here. A similar version of this dress can be found at Gap (split-neck sleeveless dress in hot magenta), $69.95.
Tights: The Limited, $10 (sale). In the meantime, these tights from Gap (Opaque Tights), $12.95, will do the trick.
Patent Studded Pumps: Ivanka Trump (galyn) from Lord&Taylor, $54.99 (retail sale $119.99). I had been eyeing these forever but didn't want to pay full price for them ($150). So I waited it out. Finally, they went on sale and I grabbed them during the Friends & Family event and saved an additional 25% off. Lucky for me, I had returned a few bday presents and used the credit towards these beauties. They are SO comfy. Now I am eyeing the leopard version...... Right now, use code SAVEMORE and save 15%.
Bow Necklace: Agatha Paris (French brand), $ bday gift from my Parisienne friend. For something similar: (1) Kate Spade: Skinny Mini Necklace, $78 and (2) Etsy: LittleThingsbyTCY, Simple Bow Necklace, $12.
Leather Bracelet w/ Jeweled Accent: Ku De Ta, $22. A lovely South Boston boutique that is worth a stop in if you are ever in the neighborhood. For something similar: Bauble Bar: Ivory Petal Wrap, $32.
