Trail Blazer
Putting this outfit together was as easy as 1-2-3, literally. Instead of reaching for my LBD, I decided to pair a fitted tank with my favorite pleated skirt. The orangey-red floral print definitely popped against the black and the blazer instantly elevated the outfit. The added bonus of wearing this blazer to work is that it kept me warm in my frigid little cube. Love it when fashion can serve a functional purpose!
As the Fall is approaching, I foresee myself layering outfits with blazers and cardigans. It's a great way to give any old outfit a little face lift. A blazer can help transition most outfits from summer into Fall without buying anything new. Helps pinch a few pennies here and there. I'll most likely remix this blazer at some point with a pair of black ankle length pants for work. For play, a pair of skinny jeans and tan riding boots will be perfect. Already I have three different outfits planned for this one blazer. Cost per wear has already decreased! Read below to see how much I scored this blazer for and how you can nab it for essentially the same price!
Outfit Details:
Stretch Cami: Old Navy $12.50.
Floral Vines Print Blazer: Loft, $29.99. I got this in-store while there was an additional % off promotion. This blazer is still available online for $44.92.
Pleated Skirt: Jason Wu for Target. I cannot exactly remember how much I paid for this skirt. I love a good collaboration; gives you a chance to own designer pieces without breaking the bank. Here are some alternatives: (1) Ark & Co ponte pleated skirt from Piperlime, $59; (2) Mossimo pleated skirt from Target, $20; and (3) American Apparel pleated skirt, $18.
Black Pumps: Nine West (Rocha) from Macy's, $79.
Necklaces: (1) Cross Necklace: gorjana - griffin from Rue La La, $29.90. gorjana-griffin does make frequent appearances on Rue La La, so keep an eye out for that boutique. For something a little different, check out this sideways cross pendant from Nordstrom, $16; (2) Cupcake Necklace: Present from my friend when she visited Huntington Beach, CA. I inquired and she mentioned it came from a store called Heavenly Couture.
Gold Twist Pave Cone Cuff: This was a buried bauble from Bauble Bar that I got for $10! It is no longer available but there are other cone bracelets worth checking out: Alabaster Cone Cuff, $28; Pave Cone Cuff, $28
Rings: The single rope band I wore is part of a trio of gold stackable rings by gorjana-griffin from Rue La La, $29.90. Bauble Bar carries twist ring trio in lilac (on sale $22), mint (on sale $22) and tangelo (on sale $20). Each set contains one gold band. For something similar to my gold band, I like the gold classic cigar band also from Bauble Bar, $36. My midi ring is from Urban Outfitters, $8. I definitely paid $6 for this ring, so I'm thinking they increased the price...
