My W.E.L.Lness Journey
I've always considered myself a healthy person. I watch what I eat and I workout regularly. However, most recently, I realized that health and wellness extends beyond the physical. Towards the end of 2017 and into the new year, I've noticed that my stress level has increased due to the pressures at work. Sleeping is sometimes an issue because my mind is constantly racing, not knowing when to hit pause. My husband is constantly telling me to leave work at work and relax, which is so much easier said than done. I figured it was time to really focus on myself and find ways to cope with the stress.
Exercise has been my go to as a stress reliever but I know I needed to be more open-minded and look for other ways that could help. First on the list - acupuncture. A friend of mine recommended this and my aunt (who is really into Eastern practices and medicine) is also a huge acupuncture fan. I've been going once a week since the beginning of the new year and it has been amazing. For the 45 minutes I'm on the table, it's me time. I can really relax, physically and mentally. I've also started yoga at home. I was never a huge fan but some of my yogi friends love it so much, I figured I should give it a try. Verdict? I actually enjoy it. I'm slowly working my way towards having enough courage to actually go do it in a studio (baby steps). Next on my list is meditation. Lucky me, work is offering a few on-site sessions that I plan on joining to test the waters out. Will let ya know how it goes.
In the midst of all of this revelation, I received an invitation to join the W.E.L.L Summit Community. This could not have come at a better time! I'm looking at this as an opportunity to learn more about self-improvement and care. At a recent gathering with other women in this community, so many of them spoke about The W.E.L.L Summit that they attended in 2017 and how excited they are for the one coming up in April. Hearing their excitement and passion is getting me just as excited. I'm really looking forward to hearing the speakers, meeting others within this community, and walking away with some changes I can make to improve my wellness.
If you plan on attending again this year or if you are a newbie (like me), tickets are on sale now! Use code WSLinda to save 15% off your ticket.
