Kickin' It With Kerrie
Last weekend, after a few scheduling conflicts, the stars finally aligned and I had my first date with Kerrie, the wonderful Boston-based blogger behind Rarely Taken Seriously. Before meeting with Kerrie last Saturday afternoon, I had the genius idea to clean my condo from top to bottom. I was in the zone and completely lost track of time. Before I knew it, I had to quickly get ready for a very important date! With a small window to work with, I quickly threw an outfit together. When off duty, I like to keep things comfy, casual and fun! And how fun are these purple galaxy print cords? Yup, these are on repeat because I love them. I paired it with one of my FAVE t-shirts that was a pick-up from a trip to Harajuku, Japan. I couldn't resist the lace skull & cross-bone print: edgy with a feminine twist. Trying to minimize the time I'd be late in meeting Kerri, these kicks were necessary, in case I had to run after a bus!
The minute Kerrie and I started talking, it was non-stop. We covered everything: when did she get married, how my wedding planning going, blogging, friends, shopping, fashion, handbags, dogs, Ireland, etc, etc. You name it, we most likely covered it. I felt like we were old friends catching up. And in true blogger-fashion, after enjoying our hot chocolates at Hotel Chocolat, we headed to the Boston Common for a mini photo shoot. Not wanting our date to end, we headed to Warby Parker to play in their showroom. Our last stop was J.Crew, where we rifled through the sale racks and nabbed a few goodies (stay tuned for that!). Outfit Details:
Sunglasses: Oliver Peoples (braverman 55), $125 (retail $420). During a trip to NYC late last year, I stopped by a sample sale at the Oliver Peoples store on E.68th and Madison. As an alternative and at a lower price point, I recommend the Greenwich in revolver black from my favorite sunglasses company, Warby Parker, $95.
Skull & Cross-bone T: Croxxbones. When my fiance and I vacationed in Japan almost two years ago, we shopped in the Harajuku district. We happened upon an amazing shop that had the best t-shirts and I had to get my hands on this one. With the conversion, I don't remember exactly what I (over)paid. For your perusal: (1) Nordstrom: Kensie Skull Print Tee, $45; (2)Urban Outfitters: OBEY Calavera Tee, $19.99; and (3) Bloomingdale's: Lauren Moshi Tee Skull Vintage, $77.60.
Open Front Cardigan: Gap, $unknown. This is an oldie but goodie, however, Gap currently carries a very similar style that is on sale: Open-front shawl cardigan, $38.99. Shop in-store thru 3/30 and save 40%!
Ring: The 'R' initial ring is from Lou Lou, $10. This ring is not available online. As a substitute, I found this alphabet ring on Etsy, $17.
Bracelets: (1) Banana Republic: Tassel Bracelet, $25 (sale). I paid $15 for this beauty by taking advantage of an in-store promo and rewards certificate. BR is very generous with their sales, so keep an eye out! and (2) Adjewelry: Watson Street Vintage Brackelet (one of a kine). I won this in a giveway hosted by Adjewelry on Instagram! Corduroy Pants: Hudson (midrise Nico, super skinny) from Rue La La, $27.90. This exact pair made a reappearance on Rue La La recently, so they are still out there! Sneakers: Onitsuka Tiger by Asics, $80. I bought these at least five years ago from a store that was going out of business on Newbury Street and defn got a steep discount. I had a bit of buyer's remorse after the purchase, so I tucked the sneaks away in my closet. And now, I am all about them. Somehow they survived MANY closet purges over the years and boy am I glad they did!
