In With The Old
How does the old saying go? Out with the old and in with the new. As we all ushered in the new year, I am sure there were resolutions made to let go of certain things and embrace all that is new in 2015. But realistically (and mostly financially), the same can't be applied to my wardrobe. Now that the last of the holiday bills have been paid, I have put myself on a bit of a shopping diet. So for me, it's really 'in with the old'. Period. For me, it's all about shopping from your closet and accessorizing outfits with key accessories to make it feel new again. This sleeveless navy fit and flare is one of my fave pieces for work and I have worn it probably a few too many times (it may be time to replace). By slipping a long sleeve underneath I transformed the dress into a jumper in one simple step. And with a simple crew neckline, I added a collared bib which instantly creates a new neckline. Lastly, a punch of print was added withe these awesome tartan tights. Tights are an easy and affordable way to jazz up any simple outfit. So with a few easy tweaks, I got myself a new work outfit. Do you have any easy tricks to transform something old into something new?
Outfit Details:
Peter Pan Collar Necklace: Loft (won in a Yankee Swap).
Navy Fit & Flare Dress: Aqua from Bloomingdale's (old).
Gray Long Sleeve: Gap (old). This favorite long-sleeve crew tee is always in stock and currently on sale, $16.
Tartan Tights: Anthropologie, $11. I found these tights in the sale bin during one of their big sales. Unfortunately, they are no longer available online but definitely check with your local Anthro store.
Satchel: Rebecca Minkoff (small amorous satchel - black cherry). I purchased mine last winter during the Bloomie's F&F. Unfortunately, the black cherry is no longer available but there are other fun colors and prints to choose from (some on sale, too!).
Navy Pumps: Banana Republic (old).
