Getting Graphic
A few posts ago, I gave you some insight into my wardrobe purging habits. Before sending items to their new homes (goodwill, consignment store, a cousin) or death sentence (trash) I try to give them a second chance. Like the time I turned a pair of old jeans into distressed denim shorts. About a year ago, I bought my first maxi skirt which I brought on my trip to Israel. I loved it. The print, the ease of wear, the perfect length. Well, upon my return to the States, one cycle through the wash and dryer shrunk the darn thing. It was a bit tight in hips and the length wasn't so perfect anymore (I prefer that it slightly skims the ground that I walk on). So into the closet it went. Until recently, I decided to give it another try; on a date with my girl Mo (Belle of the Bean). It was after that wear that I decided it was time for the skirt to go. But even before it landed in the purge pile, I decided to put it on one more time. I was tugging at it, pulling it up and down. Then a light bulb went off. I pulled it all the way up, folded it over and voila! A midi length dress!! With the help of a slightly padded bra (I'm not ashamed!), the skirt, er dress, stayed put. The maxi skirt was saved from its doom. This was what I wore on that very hot Father's Day.
I used to be a skirt........
What other re-purposing ideas have you used in the past? I'd love to hear about it!
