Faux Fur & A Midi Skirt

This past weekend, my childhood gal pals and I, with Dan in tow, headed up north to Woodstock, VT for our friend Heather's wedding. I was really looking forward to a weekend in the 'country'; a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the city and our own wedding planning. Vermont is beautiful this time of year. Although we missed prime-time leaf peeping, the trees were still covered in gorgeous orange-y, yellow-y and reddish colored leaves. The weekend forecast was a bit iffy: scattered rain and cold temps (like low 3o's cold). Couple that with a Sunday afternoon wedding in a barn without a heating system. What's a girl to wear to such a wedding?! All I knew was whatever I wore, my pink (faux) fur vest was coming with me. I LOVE weddings and even more so when it's one of my own close friends. I couldn't be happier for Heather, who I have known since the 7th grade! The nuptials took place at Apple Hill Inn (Taftsville, VT). The scenery was breathtaking. Rolling hills, green grass, leaf-covered trees and clear blue skies. The barn was beautifully decorated and was absolutely charming. It was totally rustic-chic.

So here's the outfit breakdown: Sunday Afternoon. Vermont. Barn. Cold. I wanted something that was not over the top dressy but needed enough oomph for a wedding. Instead of going the dress route, I opted for separates. The previously mentioned faux fur vest paired well with a long sleeved crop top and midi skirt. I have to admit, the heels proved to be a bit tricky, constantly getting caught in the uneven floorboards. Let's just say I had to sit out of the country dancing. Can't risk a spranged ankle for own upcoming nuptials!

Midi Skirt: c/o H&M. No longer available online but a the crinkled skirt is very similar (I tried this one on in the store), $34.95.

Pumps: Steven by Steve Madden (Rustyy), Bloomingdale's Outlet, $37. The Bloomie's Outlet was having a major shoe sale, hence, the price I paid!
