Bloggers Who Brunch
Last weekend, I joined a group of lovely Boston Bloggers to meet Megan, blogger behind Stylish & Scatterbrained, who hails from Chi-town. We made our way to the North End and landed at North Street Grille. Not only did I get to met Megan and catch up with the other ladies, I finally had the chance to meet Shabnam (Breakfast on Newbury) and Chelsea (Proverbial Hearts). In a group of 10 ladies armed with their cameras and Iphones, there was constant chatter, laughter, clicks and snaps. With our bellies full, we headed out and in true blogger fashion, harassed a small handful of innocent bystanders to take a few group shots of us. They all kindly obliged, which is evidenced by our IG feeds! So who else was at the brunch that warm and sunny Saturday? Well, here's the blog roll call: Notes On Lifestyle by Georgina, Bell of the Bean, Rarely Taken Seriously, Cupcakes & Couture, Cuppajyo and Shell Chic'd.
With that backdrop, a quick little mention about my brunch get-up. This classic print, on a classic silhouette, in a classic color combo makes this shirt perfection. Well, to me at least! The crisp lines of the window panes are softened by the delicate fabric that drapes with ease. Paired with ankle-length skinnies and flats make for the perfect daytime outfit with minimal effort. The flats were more out of necessity, since I knew cobblestone streets were in my future. A pop of color, thanks to my Botkier, and a punch of floral sunnnies round out this look of the day!
Outfit Details:
Sunglasses: Peter Pilotto for Target, $16.99. These sunglasses are no longer available online. You might be able to snag a pair on ebay. If that's not your thing, here are some other options, all from asos: (1) Tort Mixed Frame Round Sunglasses, $14.11; (2) Glitter Round Sunglasses, $14.11; and (3) Metal Top Keyhole Round Sunglasses, $7.53.
Window Pane Print Blouse: Splendid from Bloomingdale's. I was quite excited to find this top already marked down and on the sale rack. Tagged originally at $118, I took advantage of the F&F discount and paid a whopping $46! Unfortunately, the top is sold out online at Bloomie's. It's still available at Splendid, but at full price. If you are into this print, a few tops for your consideration: (1) J.Crew Factory: Printed Silk Blouse, $49.99 and (2) Piperlime: Splendid Window Pane Print Top, $61.99.
Bracelet: (1) Watson Street Vintage Bracelet that I won from adjewelry. It's a one of a kind. Check out her etsy shop for other amazing vintage inspired jewels; (2) Nautical Chain Link Bracelet: purchased at a shop in Chatham last summer for $20-ish. I thought this First Mate bracelet fits the nautical them, $14.
Watch with Quilted Leather Band: Kate Spade (Cooper Grand Strap), $195 (paid $146). I attended a Sip, Shop & Save event at the Kate Spade store on Newbury Street during the holidays and saved 25% off. Attending in-store events like these are a great way to get those extra savings!
Jeans: Marshalls: Paige, $15 (clearance). I couldn't believe my eyes when I found premium brand jeans on the clearance rack. Always, check your local Marshalls. In the meantime, take a look at these: (1) Gap (1969 always skinny jean-medium wash), $41.97; (2) Old Navy(Rockstar Mid-Rise Super Skinny Jean-golden) spike, $29; and (3) Piperlime: Levi's Better Legging, $53.99. Use code BETTER20 by 4/18 and save an addtional 20%.
Flats: Bloch from Lord & Taylor, $50. Bloch makes the most comfortable flats; I swear by them. L&T carries a limited selection but they make appearances on Rue La La often, so keep your eyes peeled.
Handbag: Botkier Valentina satchel, paid $177.50 a year ago during an amazing Botkier online sale. Here are a few from the Valentina family: (1) Saks Off 5th: Botkier Leather Satchel, $182.69; (2) 6pm.com: Botkier Valentina Satchel, starting at $179.99; and (3) Bloomingdale's: Botkier Satchel, $276.50.
