Dan and I were looking for a quick trip over Labor Day weekend with our only criteria being a short and direct flight to the destination. We landed on Toronto (only a 1 hour 20 minute flight there and a one hour flight back!). I had only been twice before  and Dan had never been so this seemed like the best choice. We covered a ton of ground during our four night stay there. However, I've listed my fave highlights from our trip below, starting with food. So read on! (pictured above: Eva's Original Chimneys - Eva's Apple Crumble).

Most importantly, all the eats:

They also had vegan donuts which we tried BUT I think I'll stick with the real deal.

At the recommendation of a friend, we tried Bang Bang IceCream. I was actually too full from our snacking to get my own, so I stole a few bites of Dan's ice cream sandwich, which was pretty darn good.

On our way out to Niagara Falls, we stopped by the Black Cat Espresso Bar. Dan had read that they had the best breakfast sandwich in Toronto.  We arrived around 10AM and there were only 3 left! And let me tell you, it's up there as far as breakfast sandwiches go. Sadly, no picture of sandwich because we ate in the car and it was too messy to try eating it and taking a pic...at Espresso Bar

If you are a dumpling lover, Mother's Dumplings is where it's at. We ordered some dumplings and steamed buns, all of which were tasty.

For a cool brunch spot with amazing options, make sure to stop by Mildred's Temple Kitchen. Mildred's is known for their pancakes, which are super fluffy and almost cake-like. We also got the crunchy granola and veda's choice.

For a different type of ice cream, CoolN2 is, well, pretty cool. They make ice cream to order using liquid nitrogen. I went with blueberry shortcake while Dan opted for choco oreo.

I finally had a sushi donut from Square Fish, which was in walking distance from our Air BNB. They used high quality ingredients and was the perfect pre-dinner snack (I split one with Dan). I'm on board with this sushi trend.

Our most FAVORITE meal was at DOMA, a French - Korean restaurant. Their menu rotates monthly, with a few fan favorites as repeats. We opted for the tasting menu (6 entrees and 2 desserts). This was the perfect way to taste a little of everything on the menu. Pictured above is the grilled octopus.

This is the pork belly dish. The other SIX dishes were exquisite but figured just a few pics would get the point across of how good and interesting the menu is.

Stay tuned for the second installation of this Toronto travel guide where I cover sites, things to do and a little retail therapy.
