Trendy On A Budget

Looking good shouldn't cost that much!

What A Pane

PeterPilotto for Target_Banana Republic_Botkier_Sam Edelman_coverWhether for work or play, a dress is my best friend. It takes the guesswork, time and mental anguish (depending on the time of day) out of putting an outfit together. Slip on a dress, grab a handbag and throw on a fabulous pair of shades and I am out the door in minutes. And this is exactly how it happened as I got ready for my afternoon date with blogger Kerri of Rarely Taken Seriously. On the agenda: a field trip to The Street at Chestnut Hill. Once there, we stopped by the Blue Mercury grand opening and perused their fabulous products, while indulging on some delish mini cupcakes. We took a nice lunch break at The Cottage and caught up on what’s been going on in our blog and personal lives. Stopped by a few more stores (Portabello Road, Calypso and Splendid) before heading back to Boston. But not before we had a mini outfit shoot at a cute park nearby (come on, we’re bloggers!).

The dress. I couldn’t help but add this to my collection. The black and white windowpane print is so crisp, clean and chic. I love the added detail of the gold zipper running along the backside. But you know me, I always love to add some flair to my looks. The floral sunnies and lilac satchel added the perfect pop of color and oomph to this weekend look.

Outfit Details:

Windowpane Ponte Sheath: Banana Republic, $69.99 (paid $16.99). When I purchased this dress, there was a promotion for 40% off sale items. I then applied my rewards! Use code BRDAD thru 6/15 and save 35%.

Sunglasses: Peter Pilotto for Target, $16.99. These sunglasses are no longer available online. You might be able to snag a pair on ebay. If that’s not your thing, here are some other options, all from asos: (1) Tort Mixed Frame Round Sunglasses, $19.05; (2) Glitter Round Sunglasses, $19.05; and (3) Metal Top Keyhole Round Sunglasses, $7.62.

Handbag: Botkier Valentina satchel, paid $177.50 a year ago during an amazing Botkier online sale. Here are a few from the Valentina family: (1) 6pm.com: Botkier Valentina Satchel, starting at $202.99 and (2) Bloomingdale’s: Botkier Satchel, $276.50.

Studded Sandals: Sam Edelman from Marshalls, $29 (last summer). The closest pair I could find are the Sam Edelman Ginger sandals from Bloomingdale’s, $70 (sale).
