Trendy On A Budget

Looking good shouldn't cost that much!

Thankful

oliver peoples_loft_bauble bar_H&M_charles davidI hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I enjoyed mine tremendously and am thankful for all the good food and the time spent with my family. But what I am truly thankful for and what got me through the day of marathon eating: my leggings!

Each year, I am tempted to throw on a sweat-xedo. The elastic waistband of the sweatpants would embrace the growing food baby and a sweatshirt would conceal it. Even though the gatherings I attended are casual, I knew I had to put in some effort to look put together. So next best thing? Leggings paired with a stylish sweatshirt, both of which are forgiving in all directions. The grey on grey colorblocking and kangaroo pockets gives this sweatshirt a modern spin. A sparkly necklace with a pop of color jazzed up my stretchy outfit. I’d normally throw on a pair of flats but it was so cold out, riding boots were necessary. And so were a wool scarf and my newest fave anorak.

Outfit Details:

Grey Sweatshirt w/ Kangaroo Pockets: Loft, $13.99. I found this sweatshirt on the sale rack and to my delight, it was an additional 50% off. I attended the Fashion Bash event at the Faneuil Hall Loft last weekend and attendees were rewarded with 20% off on top of all other promotions. Attending in-store events has its perks and a great way to get additional savings. This sweatshirt is no longer available online, but there are plenty of other Loft sweatshirts on sale. Use code ENJOY thru 12/1 and save 40%!

Leggings: H&M, $9.95.

Sunglasses: Oliver Peoples (braverman 55), $125 (retail $420). On a recent trip to NYC, I stopped by the sample sale at the Oliver Peoples store on E.68th and Madison. As an alternative at a much lower price point, I recommend the Greenwich in revolver black from my favorite sunglasses company, Warby Parker, $95.

Necklace: Bauble Bar, $Free. I received this necklace as part of a promotion (buy one, choose one free) last summer. Unfortunately, its no longer available online. To add that pop of hot pink, I recommend the color block chain strands, $34. Shop Bauble Bar’s Black Friday Sale thru 12/1. Save 15% off two items with code FRIDAY15, 25% off three items or more with code FRIDAY25 or 35% off four + items with code FRIDAY35.

Moto Boots: Charles David (rider) from Rue La La, $179. After two winter seasons and a one heel replacement later, these boots are still going strong. I’m a big fan of Rue La La, where you can get luxe items for less. So keep your eyes peeled for upcoming boot boutiques. In the meantime, here are some alternatives: (1) Macy’s: G by Guess Women’s Hertlez Riding Boots, $79.99 (sale). Use code THANKS on 11/30 and save an extra 10%; (2) Macy’s: Madden Girl Cactus Boots, $69.99 (sale); and (3) Macy’s: Nine West Sookie Riding Boots, $99.99 (sale). Use code THANKS on 11/30 and save an extra 10% off.

Coat: Piperlime (Hive & Honey), $70. I purchased this in October and it is already sold out online! However, similar styles are still available. Use code GIFT and save 25% or 40% off final sale (thru 11/30).

Scarf: Burberry, $Gift. For wool plaid scarves at a lower price point, Macy’s carries Polo Ralph Lauren Wool-Blend scarves for $58.

Super cute outfit! I actually don’t own any leggings. Well, not since the last time they were so popular (i.e. 2 decades ago)! 🙂 I do want some though, I’ll check out H&M.
