Same pieces, different day. Let’s be honest, it’s just not practical for me to constantly post new outfits. Entering 2014, I have put myself on a shopping budget. With a wedding to plan and pay for, I had to take some drastic measures. Working with a limited amount each month, I have to think long and hard before I make a purchase. To preserve some of that allotment, I plan on remastering already existing pieces in my closet. Case in point.
I have worn this turtleneck (here) and skirt (here) on two separate non-work occasions. When paired together, they work quite well for the office. With the exaggerated animal print and bold hues, I kept the rest of my outfit simple. An all black backdrop and simple accessories keeps the overall look balanced. You know I love mixing prints and accessories, but for work, it was best to go the subdued route. However, in a sea of button downs, muted colors and suits, this skirt could be spotted (no pun intended) a mile away!
p.s. It was just to cold to take pics outdoors. So here is another sneak peek inside my home!
Tissue Turtleneck: C&C California from Bloomingdale’s Outlet, $12 (on clearance from $58). J.Crew Factory carries a similar style on sale for $12.99.
Animal Print Skirt: Phillip Lim for Target, $29.99. Here are a few fun animal print skirts to try: (1) asos: Midi Skirt in Animal Print, $46.30; and (2) Forever21: Electric Leopard Pencil Skirt, $10.80.
Earrings: Madewell (light worn gold), $18.
Rings: Over the holidays, my mom gave me one of her old gold bands that has been sitting in her jewelry box. Her fingers are much smaller than mine so she had it re-sized to fit my finger. So now I have two gold bands: one from my dad and one from my mom. If you are looking for a simple gold band, I recommend this one from Bauble Bar, $36.
Tights: Bloomingdale’s Outlet (Hue), $11 for a 2-pack. Currently available at Lord & Taylor on sale for $13.50/pair. Use code FINAL thru 2/4 and save an additional 15%.
Pumps: Arturo Chiang (Avia) from Lord& Taylor, $63.20. Full priced, this shoe retails at $79 but I was able to use a 20% coupon. You are in luck! Use code FINAL and save 15% off thru 2/4.
