Trendy On A Budget

Looking good shouldn't cost that much!

Patterns & Textures

patterns & texturesWhen I purchased these shorts, I had every intention of wearing them in the Spring/Summer. But every time I went to take it off the hanger, I would change my mind. The color, pleats and leather piping made it feel like something I should reserve for the Fall/Winter. But then Fall/Winter would come around and I would once again hesitate because it was too cold to wear shorts. So needless to say, these shorts haven’t seen the light of day since I brought them home from the Gap. After a little inspo from a recent ‘Love This Look‘, I decided to give life to these shorts!

I weather proofed the shorts for a crisp Fall day by wearing a wool cardigan, tights and blazer. Given that the grey shorts are somewhat muted in color and lacks print, I complimented it with a leopard cardigan and leopard belt. I added some texture to the outfit with my geometric patterned tights and new fave embossed python clutch. A pair of ballet flats rounded out the outfit and I was on my merry way to brunch.

Outfit Details:

Blazer: Gap, under $20 (circa 2008).  Similar blazers: (1) Gap: Classic Two Button Blazer, $98. Thru 11/23, use code GAPEARLY and save 40% off purchases or use your card and code BFCARD to say 50%; (2) H&M: Blazer, $34.95; and (3) Forever21: Single-Button Blazer, $32.80.

Leopard Cardigan: Banana Republic Factory, $20-ish. If my memory serves me right, I purchased this last year at the Wrentham Outlets. For something similar, check out the Banana Republic Leopard Bella Dream Tee in Bella Grey, $45. With the holidays around the corner, there will definitely be promos and sales, so there is no need to pay full price!

V-Neck Cami: Old Navy, $8.50. Use code ONSAVENOW thru 11/23 online and save 20% (6.80).

Pleated Shorts w/ Faux Leather Piping: Gap, $can’t remember. This was definitely a purchase off the sale rack; that much I can remember. Needless to say, these shorts are no longer available at Gap. Here are some great shorts for the Fall/Winter: (1) Zara: Quilted Shorts, $49.90; (2) Piperlime: Ark & Co Vegan Leather Cutout Shorts, $39.97; and (3) Forever21: Regal Velveteen Shorts, $19.80.

Pave Stone Link Bracelet: Target, $19.99.

Ring: Open pyramid ring by gorjana-griffin (Rue La La, $29.90), an alternative is the Forever21 pyramid ring set, $3.80. Wear one or stack them all!

Necklace: Love disc necklace from Marc by Marc Jacobs, $10. This is also an older purchase. Here’s an alternative, the Love Me Necklace, also by Marc by Marc Jacobs, $15. The cameo charm was a gift from a friend. Adding your own charms is a great way to personalize jewelry.

Clutch: GiGi New York (Emerald Uber Clutch – Embossed Python), $Gift. My fiance gave this to me for my birthday! The clutch retails at $130 and $15 for personalization. Sign up for their newsletter and save 10% off your first purchase!

Tights: The Limited, $7.50. I purchased these with a birthday coupon. Lucky for you, they are still on sale. Use code 24HRS and save 50%!

Flats: Bloch from Lord and Taylor, $50. I purchased these during an L&T Friends & Family event. I always wait for them to go on sale and use a coupon to get the best price possible. Bloch’s have also making frequent appearances on Rue La La, too! They are the MOST comfortable flats ever. I own five pairs, and counting.
