Trendy On A Budget

Looking good shouldn't cost that much!

Orange You Glad to See Me?

aqua_jcrew 1I’ve always had an aversion to the color orange. I was never really into it nor did I think it was really a color for me. But over the years, orange has found its way into the fashion world and become the must have color each season. It’s almost like orange is the new black. I decided to introduce orange into my wardrobe in small increments; buying orange accessories, working the color into prints and finally slipping into full on orange outfits. Moral of the story. Give color a chance!

For a bachelorette weekend in the Cape, I decided to break out the latest addition to my orange collection. With its simple silhouette and solid color, I broke up the monotony with a printed bag , statement necklace and a stack of gold bracelets. Knowing that we were heading to the Beachcomber where we would all ultimately end up on the dance floor, I was wise in selecting flat sandals aka dancing shoes. Who wants to sink in sand or end up with stilettos full of sand? Not me! I managed to comfortably dance the night away…….

Outfit Details:

Orange Dress: Aqua from Bloomingdale’s, $34. Is it a surprise that I am wearing another Aqua dress? Of course I scored this deal during a Bloomie’s Friends & Family event. If you want to give orange a try, here are a handful of orange dresses, including Aqua, (in different variations) available at Bloomingdale’s for under $100.

Satin Purse: J.Crew, $25-ish. This is pulled from the archives and went perfectly with this dress! Here are a few options to add some print or texture to your outfit: (1) Lottie Leopard Contrast Purse from boohoo, $16 or (2) Zarah Neon Studded Clutch Bag from boohoo, $40.

Necklace: Gift from a friend who purchased it in NY. Here are a few alternatives: (1) Forever21 Bejeweled Bib Necklace, $10.80 or (2) Style & Co Gold Toned Faceted Glass Pave Necklace from Macy’s, $32.

Bracelets: Alex and Ani, prices start at $24.

Rings: Trio of gold stackable rings by Gorjana-Griffin from Rue La La, $29.90. Bauble Bar carries twist ring trio in lilacmint and tangelo at $28 a set (free shipping both ways). Each set contains one gold band. The gold band I am constantly wearing is my dad’s wedding band. Try the gold classic cigar band also from Bauble Bar, $36 for a similar look.

Sandal: Aqua from Bloomingdale’s Outlet, $16. These were greatly marked down. Couldn’t believe they still had my size! For something similar, try Nine West’s Sequin sandal in brown leather. It is currently on sale for $69.99 and receive an additional 20% off at checkout ($55.99). Also loving these French Connection (Terri) sandals from Piperlime, $34.97.

So cute and looks right on trend! I have the same issue, I’m not much of an orange kind of girl, plus it’s hard for me to find the right shade to match my skin tone…similar to yellow. I guess I should give orange a try in small doses, I’ll let you know how it goes! : ) xx
