Trendy On A Budget

Looking good shouldn't cost that much!

Making a Statement

aqua_tory burch 2After returning from my whirlwind weekend in Iceland, I was a bit discombobulated. So on my first day back to work, I needed an easy outfit that required very little thought. Per usual, I opted for a dress. I love this particular dress for a few reasons: 1) the fit and flare silhouette defines my waistline, 2) the boldness of the blue hue and 3) the stretchy-ness of the fabric that makes it so comfortable.

Being comfortable is important, but be careful not to cross the line of being too casual. I am a fan of bold jewelry, which I think looks best when paired with a solid colored simple dress or top. Which is why I chose this particular necklace that I recently purchased from Bauble Bar, my newest obsession. Since I set the tone by picking a gold necklace, I continued the gold theme with the remainder of my accessories, including my flats. With plans to attend a networking event after work, this was the perfect day to night transition outfit.

Outfit Details:

Aviator Sunglasses: Prada, Sunglass Hut Outlet, $129.99.  Check out these Juicy Couture platinum aviator sunglasses at Lord and Taylor.  Use code FRIENDS during the Friends & Family event for an extra 25% thru 6/11 ($73.50)

Dress: Aqua from Bloomingdale’s, $38. I purchased this dress during a Friends & Family event. Aqua is one of my favorite brands carried by Bloomingdale’s because they always have on-trend pieces at reasonable price points. I tend to find pieces on the sale rack, apply the F&F discount and end up nabbing them at unbelievable prices. I could not find this exact dress but here are a few alternatives: (1) Tommy Hilfiger Sleeveless Belted A-Line Dress in Navy from Macy’s, $99.99 but save an extra 15% thru 6/13 ($84.99); (2) French Connection Pleated dress from Bloomingdale’s on sale for $75.48. Use code JUNEFRIENDS thru 6/9 and save an additional 20%, bringing the price down to $60.38; and (3) Pim & Larkin ponte bow dress in royal blue from Piperlime, $89.

Gold Aztec Triad Collar: Bauble Bar, $42.

Bracelets: Alex and Ani, price ranges from $24 and up. Spikes bangle was a gift.

Rings: Gold plated open pyramid ring by Gorjana-Griffin via Rue La La, $26.  Check out Piperlime for this solid pyramid gold ring by Hive & Honey for $20. Gold band was my dad’s wedding band. For a similar ring, the Gorjana-Griffin delaney wave ring is a gold band that is on sale for $38.50. Single gold twisted band is part of a trio of stackable rings by Gorjana-Griffin from Rue La La, $29.90. Bauble bar carries twist ring trio in lilac and mint at $28 a set (free shipping both ways!). Each set contains one gold band.

Gold Flats: Tory Burch from Tory Burch Outlet, $129. This was also a bit of a splurge but I rationalized that it was a Christmas gift to myself! Take advantage of Bloomingdale’s Friends & Family event and get an additional 25% off these gold Sam Edelman round toe ballet flats ($52.50). Use code JUNEFRIENDS between 6/5-6/9.

Cobalt blue is one of my favorite shades, and I’m also a big fan of the Aqua brand. Love this dress on you!
