Trendy On A Budget

Looking good shouldn't cost that much!

Hey Boyfriend

warby parker_express_the limited_dv_phillip lim for target (2)Today’s work outfit is yet another nod to our boyfriends. Who knew we could draw fashion inspiration from them? As of late, I have traded in my dresses/skirts for menswear inspired items, notably pants paired with a blazer. These two pieces when paired together create a sleek and professional look that is office-ready. But the real reason as to why there has been a shift in my wardrobe? It’s cold out and I need to stay warm!

To add a little punch to this simple outfit, accessories are key. A little sparkle and a pop of color will do the trick. A printed scarf was thrown into the mix to keep me extra warm. And what menswear inspired outfit would be complete without a pair of driving loafers?

Outfit Details:

Wool Blazer: Express, $unknown. I have had this blazer for many, many years. An oldie, but a goodie. Similar blazers: (1) The Limited: Two Button Jacket, $98. Buy one, get one 50%; (2) J.Crew Factory: Wool Houndstooth Blazer, $148; and (3) Gap: Tweed Academy Blazer, $98. Use code SWEET16 and save an addtional 40% thru 10/20 ($58.80)

Dress Shirt: Custom made in Hong Kong. When I traveled to HK last fall, getting a few custom made shirts was on my list of to-do’s. I have a hard time finding dress shirts that fit well so this is one of my faves. I even sprung for the monogrammed cuff. For a similar look, I recommend the Banana Republic Fitted Non-Iron Sateen Shirt, $69.50. Thru 10/30, use code BRSHOP35 to save an additional 35% off ($45.18).

Ankle Length Pants: The Limited (exact stretch skinny pants), $40.31. I originally purchased these in black and immediately became obsessed. Went back and got them in burgundy. It was on sale and I used my virtual dollars to save a few more bucks. Thought I got a good deal but they are now on sale for $36.99!

Sunglasses: Warby Parker (Sinclair in Midnight Blue), Gift. This is my fave pair of WPs I own. Most glasses and sunglasses are $95. The Sinclair is only available in optical but you could inquire about getting them as sunglasses.

Gold Aztec Triad Collar: Bauble Bar, $42.

Scarf: J.Crew Factory (grid scarf) $gift. It’s currently on sale for $44.99.

Rings: (1) The ‘R’ initial ring is from Lou Lou, $10. This ring is not available online. As an alternative, I found this alphabet ring on Etsy, $17; (2)Mini Bow Ring: Madewell, $15 and (3) Gold band was a gift from my dad. I love Bauble Bar’s gold classic cigar band as an alternative, $36.

Skinny Belt: H&M, $5-ish. Also an item I have had around for awhile. Could not locate online but may be available in-stores. If you can’t make it to the store to check, this Asos 2-pack stud/plain skinny waist belt, $14.24.

Top Handle Crossbody: 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target $34.99. Unfortunately, this bag sold out in-stores and online. If you are in the market for a top handle bag, here are a few for your consideration: (1) Estela Python Top Handle from Piperlime, $78; (2) Forever21 City Chic Colorblocked Crossbody, $21.80 and (3) Forever21 Professional Envelope Satchel, $27.80.

Loafers: Dolce Vita from Bloomingdale’s Outlet, $30. I found a similar pair of oxfords also by Dolce Vita at Lord & Taylor, $59.99. Use code SAVEMORE thru 11/6 and save 15% ($50.99). This item may qualify for the buy more, save more promotion.
