Trendy On A Budget

Looking good shouldn't cost that much!

Feelin’ kinda dark

gapProbably after a few more posts, you will come to see that I have a slight obsession with anything skull and cross bone related. I don’t know what it is, but I just like the way it looks printed on clothing or incorporated into jewelry. Even thought it’s spring time and most people are sporting their neons and florals, I decided to go for a mostly black look.  Can’t go wrong with black, right?

This outfit is made up of a few oldies but goodies.  I found my FAVORITE skull and cross bone T (which was the source of color for this outfit) from Zara in Hong Kong. Since the T is a bit loose, I paired it with my Club Monaco skinny jeans to balance the proportions.  I dug out from underneath my bed the Jimmy Choo for H&M booties.  I felt that the leather straps and silver grommets added to the edgy look I was going for that night.  I remember waiting in line for over 5 hours in the rain to nab these boots…the things we do for fashion (I had friends who slept in line for merchandise!).

Have you ever waited in line for an absurd amount of time to get something you had been coveting? I’d love to hear your story!

Outfit Details:

Beaded Skull T: Zara (Hong Kong), Gift.  Although not as colorful, I do like this black scoop neck T with a lace skull print for $38.  However, use code APRIL for an extra 15% off ($32).  However, if you are in the Boston location, Friends and Family has been extended thru 4/28.  10% of sales proceeds this weekend at the Boston location will be donated to The One Fund Boston.

Blazer: Gap, under $20 (circa 2008).  I am loving this black cropped blazer by Tinley Road on Piperlime.  On sale for $54.99.  Don’t forget, if you are a BR, Gap or Old Navy store card holder, you get 10% off on Tuesdays ($49.50)!

Black Skinny Jeans: Club Monaco, $49.50.  Piperlime carries a great selection of black skinny jeans, but here I was able to find a small handful for under $50!

Peep Toe Booties: Jimmy Choo For H&M, $150-ish.  Maybe you could possibly find a pair of these on Ebay.  However, as an alternative, check out these black suede open-toe booties with some metal embellishments by Seychelles on Piperlime (comes in  blue too!) for $89.99.  Again, don’t forget about 10% Tuesdays!

Clutch: Jacob by Marc Jacobs, under $20.  Check out Banana Republic’s quilted faux-leather cross body bag (very functional!).  Use code BR35TREAT thru 4/27 and get an extra 35% off, reducing the price to $36.

Silver Twisted Cable Rings: David Yurman, Gift

Yellow Faux Leather Bracelet: Gap, $1.37 (BARGAIN!).  Coming close to the price I paid for my bracelet is $6, which I found on Target.  Or if you buy 3, it’s $15.
