patterns & texturesWhen I purchased these shorts, I had every intention of wearing them in the Spring/Summer. But every time I went to take it off the hanger, I would change my mind. The color, pleats and leather piping made it feel like something I should reserve for the Fall/Winter. But then Fall/Winter would come around and I would once again hesitate because it was too cold to wear shorts. So needless to say, these shorts haven’t seen the light of day since I brought them home from the Gap. After a little inspo from a recent ‘Love This Look‘, I decided to give life to these shorts!

As much as I love getting dressed up and draping myself with accessories, sometimes keeping it simple just fits the bill. With weddings and showers winding down, I have reclaimed my weekends. This means lots of catching up before the holiday season starts. With a long list of to-do’s, my errands were sure to take me all over the city.

Boots Without the Fur

bcbgeneration_marshalls_the limited_tahariI have been on a mad hunt for a pair of black riding boots over the past month and a half. The pair in my closet had seen better days and served me well over the past 4 seasons. So when my mom asked me what I wanted for my birthday, boots were at the top of my list. After looking online, stopping at Lord & Taylor, Macy’s, TJ MAXX and Marshall’s (just to name a few stores) and a few returns later, I finally found THE ONE. As always, Marshall’s came through. I love that the boot is part leather and part stretch, giving it a polished look and a snug fit. The hardware looks like tiny screws but are actually T’s for Tahari. Very subtle, which I like.

Something Old, Something New

Of all the items I am wearing, only 20% of the outfit is new-ish. The main attraction, the dress, was purchased two winters ago. Goes to show that investing in the right item, even though this was a $50 dress, goes a long way. The simple and classic silhouette gives the dress staying power, withstanding the test of time and fleeting trends. However, this jewel tone is quite on trend for the Fall.
