Last hump day, I got on a plane and headed to Washington, DC for a conference. Low and behold, while there, it snowed! I can’t seem to escape it. But once the conference was over, the weather took a turn for the better. Talk about perfect timing because I had extended my stay through the weekend. I enjoyed the alone time; no husband and no dog (is that bad??). I explored Georgetown on my own, popping in and out of stores to my heart’s desire. As I strolled along Wisconsin Avenue, I stumbled upon Massimo Dutti. I was pretty excited to check it out, as my Parisienne friend had introduced me to the brand awhile back. The store was Ralph Lauren-esque with price points comparable to J.Crew. On top of that, the store was having a sale (yay!).
I tried on a few pieces and ultimately selected this versatile piece. The lapel collar is reminiscent of a blazer and its softness is much like a cardi. And you know I love my blazers and cardigans when it comes to dressing for the office. But seriously, how great is the gold and leather buckle fastener? I think that alone is what convinced me to make the purchase.
With Friday Jeans Day going strong in the office, I decided to pair this new top with my fave pair of denim. I layered it over a crisp white button down for a polished look. Minimal gold jewelry and perfectly tanned riding boots rounded out this casual office outfit.
Aviators: Prada Outlet (old – similar, $145).
Cardigan with Leather Buckle: Massimo Dutti, $45.50 (sale). This piece sold out online but there were a handful left at the Georgetown location. Check out the sale going on right now!
Monogrammed Button Down: I had this shirt custom-made when Dan and I vacationed in Hong Kong a few years ago. In need of a crisp white shirt? Try the Banana Republic fitted non-iron basketweave shirt, $79.50.
Morse Code Pendant (“R”): Bauble Bar, $36 (purchased during a sale for $20).
Small Sarra Cuff: Loren Hope. This was a v-day gift from the hubby.
Satchel: Rebecca Minkoff (small amorous satchel – black cherry). I purchased mine last winter during the Bloomie’s F&F. Unfortunately, the black cherry is no longer available but there are other fun colors and prints to choose from (sale, sale, sale!).
1969 Super Stretch Legging Jeans: Gap, $79.95. I have had this pair for years and they are still going strong!
Riding Boots: Coach (old). My mom gave these to me as a Christmas a few years ago. Check these pair out from 6PM.com (tan), $27.99!
So this was a bit of a splurge…..
