Trendy On A Budget

Looking good shouldn't cost that much!

Black & Gold

Jane_piperlime_bcbgeneration_HUE_nicole miller_coverAround the holiday season, I had been eyeing this dress on Piperlime. It was tagged at $98, but I was determined to buy it for less. Persistence paid off! It’s been hanging in my closet since December, just waiting for the perfect event for its debut. When it was time to get gussied up for the first of many weddings in 2014, I knew it was time to pull this piece! This was the perfect choice. So perfect that I practically matched the tapestry and rug (see photos)!

The all over gold rosette pattern magically pops against the black backdrop. With a heavy pattern, I love that the dress has a simple neckline. But simple cries for embellishment. Cue in the sparkly translucent necklace. A girl always needs her bling! As for my carryall that night? My lucite clutch, which picked up on the gold flawlessly. I was a bit nervous that the length of the dress would make me look short, but with a pair of heels the proportions worked out great. I love the fullness of the skirt and it’s my favorite silhouette: fit & flare. I felt very elegant and ladylike in this number!

Outfit Details:

As a Banana Republic card holder, I racked up a handful of reward points and got another $30 knocked off. I’m telling you, it’s worth having this store card and racking up the points across BR, Gap, Old Navy, Piperlime and Athleta. This dress is currently out of stock but here are some great alternatives, all from Piperlime: (1) Ark & Co, $48.97, (2) Rhyme Los Angeles, $48.97; and (3) Ark & Co, $54.97.
